Automechanika 2016: Trade fair review

The automechanika trade fair has been bringing the automotive industry together in Frankfurt every two years since 1971. This time, however, demand was particularly high. 4820 exhibitors from 76 countries - and thus more than ever before - presented products, solutions and innovations in Frankfurt.

The workshop and accessories fair automechanika thus once again formed an international meeting place and remained true to its reputation as the leading trade fair for the international automotive aftermarket: also due to the high visitor numbers; around 133,000 trade visitors from 170 countries attended the event.

The trade fair once again focused on the areas of parts, systems, tuning, workshop equipment, body and paint, vehicle washing, IT management and services. Special interest was also shown in current topics such as digitisation. This is because many traditional suppliers, who in the past were particularly enthusiastic about workshop equipment with impressive stands and heavy exhibits, are increasingly integrating electronics and software into their products to enable new processes in service.

But also the discourse about sustainability and product life cycles found its way to the fair and became tangible through the constantly growing exhibition area for regenerated, processed and renewed car and commercial vehicle parts. With our patented Flowbench technology, we presented a modern solution that combines both topics.

The simulated workshop operations directly on the machines on display proved to be a particular crowd puller. Here, visitors were able to measure turbochargers themselves, calibrate the variable turbine geometry and see for themselves how they benefit from our products and solutions.

Overall, we can draw an all-round positive conclusion about the trade fair presentation. Because the visitor frequency far exceeded our expectations. As a result of the lively interest that we were able to arouse, we had many discussions with potential customers from other European countries, but also from Brazil and China, for example. We were also very pleased with the overwhelming positive response from existing users.
